Our first Ethiopian coffee has arrived, finally. Halo Beriti is a washing station in Gedeb, Yirgacheffe. The smallholder producers that deliver to the station grow local landrace varieties.
It was a tough year for Ethiopia, heavy rains at the beginning of harvest inspired fear of low yields and sent pricing skyrocketing. Then the pandemic hit and coffee buyers went into panic mode, most reduced they're purchases and all were locked out of the country. Coffee is Ethiopia’s largest export, it’s part of the culture and it's here in these soils where coffee first began. To us, Ethiopia is the mecca of specialty coffee. A good cup excites us, inspires us and nourishes us.
