Since its foundation in 2014, Kedamay Multipurpose Cooperative has nearly doubled its members. It is now made up of 288 members around the Gomma Woreda in Jimma, all of whom farm coffee. A nearby wet mill was established in late 2016, where farmers were given access to technical support and quality assurance advisors in order to use a washed processing method and sell their lots for higher premiums.
This year is the first official harvest for the co-op, and we were fascinated by how it tasted on the cupping table - layered florals unlike anything we've tasted from this region before.
As is the case in many parts of Ethiopia, coffee trees in this area grow in an agriculturally healthy environment, protected under shade trees and without requiring the aid of any pesticides or fertilisers.
Finally, the Cooperative boasts environmentally friendly initiatives by using an eco-pulper and controlling waste water output.
Suitable for espresso and filter brewing. Best served black. Enjoy within four weeks of roast date.
