Buf Coffee got the name from ‘Bufundu’, the original name of the area the washing stations are located. Buf Coffee was founded in 2000 and is managed by Epiphanie Mukashyaka who founded Buf Coffee and her son Samuel who has been active in expanding the business and growing the number of smallholder farmers they work with.
Seeing first hand the difficulties local farmers faced in managing their farms while taking care of young children, Sam and Epiphanie opened Umuvumu Kindergarten in Nyamagabe District. Tuition is free and the new school has over 150 students aged between 3–6 years old. In support of Buf Coffee, one dollar from each kilogram of Ubumwe we sell is being donated to build a playground at Umuvumu Kindergarten.
This is the first year we’ve purchased this 100% Red Bourbon from the Ubumwe washing station in Kamonyi District. Ubumwe has subtle Hibiscus florals and a sweet Tangelo finish.
