Coffee Varietal: Castillo
Harvest Year: October 2023
Coffee Process: Washed
This is the first year that Efraín Paz has sold his coffee as an individual lot. Usually, Efraín sells his coffee to the local mill, where it is blended with all the coffee's delivered that day. Thankfully, our export partner Azahar Coffee has a team stationed at the mill, cupping each producer lot separately as they come in. Efraín's coffee was immediately flagged for its unique cup quality and the rest is history.
Efraín produces Castillo at close to 2000m above sea level on his farm in Tangua, Nariño. Coffee doesn't grow much higher in altitude than this, the air is thin and the conditions are extreme - a common story behind many of our favourite coffee regions.
Expect ripe berries and lingering florals in the cup.
